What the game is
Dispatch is a superhero workplace comedy from the writers and directors behind Tales from the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us. You play as Robert Robertson — Mecha Man — a superhero whose mechanical suit is destroyed in a fight with his nemesis. Without his powers, he takes a desk job at a superhero dispatch center, fielding calls and coordinating heroes from the sidelines instead of leading charges himself.
The pitch sounds like a comedy, and it is, but the writing earns it. The game is built around choice-driven dialogue in the style of classic Telltale adventures, leaning into the absurdity of superhero bureaucracy while landing some genuine emotional beats along the way.
The cast
The voice cast is unusually strong for the genre: Aaron Paul plays Robert, the beleaguered ex-hero narrator; Laura Bailey is Courtney / Invisigal, a reformed villain navigating the legitimate-hero world; Jeffrey Wright plays Chase / Track Star, Robert's mentor and closest friend. The performances are a meaningful part of why the game works.
Xbox-specific details
The Xbox version launches as the full uncensored release — the same content available on other platforms. Play Anywhere means Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers get it included, and anyone who buys it digitally can switch between console and PC without paying again.
Worth picking up?
If you liked the Telltale formula and wanted it applied to something less grimdark than The Walking Dead, Dispatch is exactly that. It's short — around five hours for a single playthrough — but confidently paced and genuinely funny in a way that doesn't require knowing any source comics (it's an original IP).
