EA Sports College Football 27 launched today, July 9, 2026 — and for the first time in the franchise's history, it's available on PC. EA confirmed the full platform list: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, EA App, Steam, and Epic Games Store. The PC version is not a stripped-down port — it carries the full feature set of the console release.
For players who have been sitting on the sidelines since EA resurrected the college football license in 2024, the PC launch is the clearest signal yet that EA intends this franchise to stick around. The previous two entries were console-only, and the absence from PC was a recurring complaint in every review cycle.
Early access, staggered release
If you're playing through EA Play Pro or hold a Deluxe or MVP Edition, you've likely already had several days with the game — early access opened July 6 for Deluxe holders and as early as July 2 for MVP+ subscribers. Standard edition players are getting in for the first time today.
EA's tiered early access model has become standard across its sports catalog, but it lands differently for a franchise that spent over a decade offline. College football fans who've waited since NCAA Football 14 don't necessarily want to wait another four days behind a paywall tier.
What's new in CF27
EA hasn't rebooted the formula this year. College Football 27 builds on last year's foundation with refinements to Dynasty mode (deeper recruiting logic and a revamped transfer portal system), improved offensive line blocking consistency — a persistent critique of CF25 and CF26 — and expanded stadium atmosphere effects. The Road to Glory single-player mode gets a new NIL storyline that tracks your player's off-field brand deals alongside on-field performance.
The roster and school count continue to expand as more programs opt into EA's NIL licensing deal. At launch, CF27 includes over 140 schools with fully licensed rosters, up from 134 at CF26 launch.
PC-specific notes
The PC release supports keyboard and mouse, though EA recommends a controller for the full experience. The game runs on a modified Frostbite build and supports DLSS 4 and FSR 4 upscaling. Minimum specs call for an RTX 2060 or RX 6600; recommended is an RTX 3080 or RX 7900 XT for 4K/60.
Cross-platform play is not available at launch — PC players cannot match against console opponents in online modes. EA says crossplay is "under evaluation" for a future update.
The bigger picture
College football gaming has been dormant on PC since the NCAA Football series ended in 2013. Twelve years is a long time. The PC player base that grew up on emulators running NCAA 14 at 4K is now the target audience for EA's revival. Whether CF27 converts that nostalgia into a loyal annual-purchase audience will say a lot about where the franchise goes from here.
