It is finally here. World of Warcraft: Forever went live globally on November 4, 2026, at 3:00 PM PST — a third, permanent mode of WoW that runs alongside the modern game and Classic, reimagining the original level 1–60 Azeroth from scratch.
Blizzard is not calling it a remake, an expansion, or a nostalgia product. Forever is a fully rebuilt version of classic Azeroth — same landmasses, different stories. The world opens at “Year 1,” before any of the events that shaped modern WoW lore, and plays out with more than 1,000 new quests, new and reimagined zones, and nine original five-player dungeons spread across the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor — from level 13 all the way to 60.
What Is Actually New
Named new zones include Mount Hyjal, Shen'dralas, the Riverglades, and Zephras Isle. These aren't cosmetic reskins — they are entirely new geographic areas sitting on the classic continents. The dungeon count at launch (nine) is well above what original WoW launched with, and Blizzard has stated that raids will not be available on day one; the first raid tier — Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit, and Onyxia's Lair — unlocks December 9, 2026.
Instead of traditional realm types (PvP, PvE, RP), Forever introduces Rulesets. Each Ruleset functions as a broad player ecosystem with its own rules of engagement, essentially consolidating what used to be hundreds of individual realms into a small number of large, opinionated communities.
No Extra Purchase Required
Forever is included with an active WoW subscription or Game Time — no separate box or expansion purchase needed. If you're already paying for WoW, you have access today. Some bundles come with 30 days of included Game Time, and ongoing play requires a subscription after that. Hardcore servers are coming in winter 2026 as a separate Forever ruleset.
Why It Matters
WoW: Forever is an unusual bet. Blizzard is essentially running three live versions of the same game simultaneously — modern WoW, Classic, and now Forever — each with its own development pipeline. The question isn't whether the first few weeks will be crowded (they will be) but whether the new storytelling in a familiar world can sustain a playerbase long-term without the nostalgia hook that Classic relied on.
The launch is split globally: players in North America get access at 3:00 PM PST on November 4, while European servers come online at midnight CET on November 5. Check Blizzard's official announcement for exact regional times before you log in.
